Police: Oregon State trooper struck while helping disabled motorist

COOS BAY, Ore. – Oregon State Police said a trooper was struck while helping a disabled motorist on Highway 101 near Coos Bay Friday.

Police say the crash occurred near milepost 280 at about 3 p.m. Friday.

They say the trooper was out of his vehicle, working on a non-injury crash when another vehicle struck his patrol car.

The trooper was not injured.

Police remind the public the law requires drivers to move over or slow down 5 miles per hour below the posted speed limit when they see emergency vehicles, tow trucks or roadside assistance vehicles stopped with emergency lights on.
