Police raid Roseburg home after elderly man attacked
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies converged on a home east of Roseburg Wednesday afternoon, after a man who had been attacked showed up at Mercy Medical Center.
Officials with the Douglas County Sheriff's office say they were called to a house in the 600 block of Rio Nes Lane, which is off of Sunshine Road east of Roseburg on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities told KPIC News at the scene that an elderly man had been attacked by a relative, and police got information that the suspect was at the home.
They surrounded the house, and according to deputies at the scene, the suspect refused to come out. "We used the P.A. and surrounded the house, and we ended up going in and getting him," said Douglas County Undersheriff Brian Sanders. "He wouldn't come out."
Sheriff's deputies made entry into the house and authorities took the suspect into custody at around 5:00 p.m.
Officials say the suspect was unarmed at the time of arrest.
The sheriff's office says the elderly man sustained serious injuries in the attack, but is expected to survive.
