COOS BAY, Ore. -- Are you ready for a large earthquake? A presentation in Coos Bay will focus on the importance of being ready.

The Red Cross “Prepare Out Loud” program will be held Monday at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

They will talk about how to prepare for the Cascadia Subduction Zone and what to expect from a major earthquake.

Steve Eberlein witnessed a tsunami in the Indian Ocean triggered by a subduction zone earthquake.

“Part of what "Prepare Out Loud” is trying to do is educate people on the steps they need to take and encourage them to do so publicly,” said Everlein. “The public act of preparedness is persuasive; it's what moves communities to change their behaviors in a way that will make them more resilient."

The presentation will be at the Hales Auditorium Monday from 6 -7:30 p.m.

There is no charge.
