Raw sewage flows into Coquille River on Wednesday

COQUILLE, Ore.-- Raw sewage flowed into the Coquille River Wendesday morning after the city's water treatment system was overwhelmed by rain water.

According to a statement sent to KCBY from the city, there was too much rain water for the system to handle raw sewage and storm water that it caused the system to break down.

That breakdown caused raw sewage to begin to flow into the Coquille River around 7:30 a.m.

Signs were posted at boat ramps around Coquille, but many fisherman were already in the water and down stream fishing for the day when the signs were put up.
