PORTLAND, Ore. – The Salvation Army says they received two more one-ounce gold bricks in red kettles at a Portland Fred Meyer location on Monday.

This is in addition to the gold brick they received in a kettle Saturday.

The first gold brick was donated at the Fred Meyer’s on Cesar Estrada Chavez Boulevard and Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard.

The second and third gold bricks were donated at the Fred Meyer’s on Southeast Foster Road. One was in the grocery door kettle and one was in the main door kettle.

"This is all very exciting, and it completely unexpected! It's amazing to think that something so small could bring so much help into the community," said Cpt. Angel Marquez from The Salvation Army in Portland.

The Salvation Army says it plans to secure the three gold bars and have them appraised by a professional.

Then, they’ll determine how to best use the gifts to help the community.
