Search underway for missing wanted man
WHITE CITY, Ore. —
Jackson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating 64-year-old John Martin Phelan.
Earlier this month Phelan was convicted of assault in the second degree for beating his girlfriend at their home in White City back in August. He was sentenced to jail and five years of supervised probation. He was released on December 11th.
On Saturday, December 16th deputies responded to a victim's home and on the 18th at 2:00 a.m. they investigated vandalism to the windows of the home. After the second incident Phelan was located intoxicated and injured nearby.
He was treated at a local hospital, cited, and released for causing property damage.
Due to a clerical error, deputies were not able to confirm the terms of Phelan's probation that prohibited from making contact with the victim.
The Jackson County District Attorney's office has revoked his probation and a judged has signed a felony for his arrest.
Phelan is described as 5'11, weighs 220 lbs, has gray hair with green eyes. He is known to frequent the White City area.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts area asked to contact dispatch at 541-776-7206.
