Sex abuse trial to begin in August

COQUILLE, Ore. -- A trial date has been set in the Michael Gannon sex abuse case.

Gannon will be tried before a 12-member jury starting on August 22. Officials expect the trial to go for two days.

There is also a hearing set for August 19, to go over the admissibility of some evidence.

At that hearing, the defense says they want to discuss statements made by Gannon to an officer, as well as statements made by the alleged victim.

Gannon is facing a felony sex abuse charge and charges of online sexual corruption and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor.
