Sheriff: K9 tracks car theft suspects for 3 miles

COOS BAY, Ore. - K9 officer Odin tracked two suspects in a car theft for 3 miles early Wednesday until they were located and arrested, the Coos County Sheriff's Office said.

The captures are the 46th and 47th of Odin's career with handler Deputy Adam Slater, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation started with a report of a silver 1999 Subaru Legacy stolen from an 8th Street residence in Coos Bay.

A deputy spotted the car northbound on Coos River Highway.

Deputies and Oregon State Police Troopers responded to the area and found the car abandoned at a boat ramp.

The driver and passenger had fled the scene.

Odin and Deputy Slater went to work tracking the suspects.
