Structure fires in Veneta displace two families
VENETA, Ore. - The Lane Fire Authority responded to two structure fires late on Friday night and early on Saturday morning, both in the Veneta area.
The first call came in at 11:19 p.m. on Friday, initially called in as a flue fire, but eventually upgraded to a structure fire.
The fire took place in a large 2 1/2 story house at 87921 Huston Rd., displacing a family of two adults and six children.
Later, at 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, the second call came reporting a kitchen fire in a manufactured home at Fern Ridge Shores Mobile Home Park.
The structure suffered significant damage, and a family of two adults and two children were displaced. The cause is ruled as a grease fire on the stove.
In both cases, the Red Cross is assisting the families who where displaced.
