NORTH BEND, Ore. -- The Take a Seat campaign at the Liberty Theatre is still on, but time to buy a seat is running out.

Take a Seat is a fundraiser for phase two of the theater’s restoration project.

Phase two of the project will install new ADA-standard bathrooms on the first floor.

This phase will also focus on replacing the 82-year-old seats in the auditorium with larger, more comfortable seats.

Members of the community can help with the restoration by purchasing a seat; each will feature an engraved plaque on the arm dedicated to whoever the buyer chooses.

"About 150 seats are still available,” says restoration committee secretary Aymee Pedder. “We're running the program through December 31 of this year, but we're really hoping to sell as many seats as we possibly can before mid-September, so we can get that Ford Family funding for our restrooms."

The Ford Foundation is donating $175K to the project but only if the Liberty Theatre reaches its goal by mid-September.

The theater still needs to raise over $46,000.
