Traffic stop of stolen vehicle near Reedsport leads to arrests of Douglas County men

REEDSPORT, Ore. -- Two men were arrested Saturday near Reedsport after police made a traffic stop on a stolen car, authorities said.

Around 8 p.m., a deputy observed a 2000 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 101 near Reedsport. The deputy learned the vehicle was stolen and initiated a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as William E. Bosley, 35, of Myrtle Creek. Bosley was taken into custody and charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, second degree theft and two arrest warrants.

The passenger, Benjamin A. Malone, 30, of Roseburg, was taken into custody for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.

Both were taken into custody.

"Since February 1, there's been roughly 40 vehicles that have been stolen in Douglas County," said Sgt. Brad O'Dell with Douglas County Sheriff's Office. "A good majority of those have been Honda-type vehicles. We're not just limited to Hondas either; they are stealing other types of vehicles as well."
