UCC hosts sunrise tribute, Day of Remembrance
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Umpqua Community College is holding a day of remembrance Friday for families and survivors affected by the shooting at UCC in 2015.
The day began at sunrise with the flag flown at half-staff and a tribute to the lives lost, with candles lit for each individual.
The tribute is focused on remembering those fallen and helping the community to heal.
"I'm just really glad that I can do something special for not only them, but also the community, the families, and show them that we're still remembering them," said tribute designer Andrew Calvert.
A private event will be taking place for UCC staff, families and law enforcement.
