Virtual school brings public education to students across Oregon

REEDSPORT, Ore. -- Some families are opting for another way of schooling their kids.

The Oregon Connections Academy is a virtual public school.

It brings public education to students in grades k-12 across Oregon using virtual technology.

A local teacher in Reedsport says she's enrolling her son next year.

"It's really flexible for our families,” says Oregon Connections Academy teacher Amy Dillahay, “that's why a lot of our families come to us; they want more flexibility or to have (a larger) part of their child's education. Every family knows their child better than anybody does, so do your research, figure out how your child learns best, and then make the decision."

The virtual school does not charge tuition.
