COOS BAY, Ore. -- A training session this weekend is preparing volunteers to lift some weight off the shoulders of foster parents.

The volunteer training is in support of the Foster Parent Night Out project.

The project, run by Bandon Christian Fellowship, gives foster parents a night out while

volunteers spend time with the kids doing different activities.

A three-hour training session for interested volunteers will be held this Saturday.

"We, and Bandon Christian Fellowship, want people to know how to work with children that may have gone through some traumatic experiences and may have some behaviors that are a little different than they’re used to,” says Grace Project coordinator Susan Thornton. “We want the volunteers that will be building relationships with the children to be able to be prepared."

The Foster Parent Night Out training is this Saturday 9 a.m. at the Oregon Community Action Building in Coos Bay.
