Warm weather heats up tourism on cooler Oregon Coast
COOS BAY, Ore. - While much of western Oregon faces a heat wave this week, temperatures are expected to stay much cooler on the Oregon Coast.
Tourism officials say this is the time of year where the coast sees a boost of people trying to beat the heat.
"A lot of folks coming from inland, they tend to show up in shorts and a tank top and then end up purchasing sweatshirts while they're here," said Katherine Hoppe with the Coos Bay/North Bend Visitors Center. "It's so much cooler than what they're used to, but it's a relief for them to get away from the heat and also enjoy everything that we have to offer here.
"There's also all kinds of things going on in our downtown areas, whether you want to shop at cute little shops or eat some amazing seafood it's a good place to come and bring the whole family."
Hoppe said that if you're from the area and see visitors, try and share your favorite spots around town.
