'We are anticipating the potential of freezing fog and freezing rain.'
LANE COUNTY, Ore. - It's one of the busiest times of travel during the year, and the Oregon Department of Transportation is prepared to make your drive a little smoother.
ODOT officials are mostly concerned with the inclement weather, and how that could impact your travel plans.
In preparation, ODOT has crews on standby, just in case the weather gets as bad as it was last year, when the ice storm hit Lane County. One ODOT official says that they have several plans of action in place, preparing for the worst.
"We are anticipating the potential of freezing fog and freezing rain in the mornings, but who knows with the weather," said Kevin Finch, with Oregon Department of Transportation. "All of the roads have been treated with de-icer, and we are going to continue to do so throughout the weekend."
ODOT would also like to remind drivers to slow down and drive with caution this time of year, especially when traffic is heavier than usual.
