Wyden on drilling off Oregon coast: Not 'on my watch'
NORTH BEND, Ore. -- US Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon visited the south coast Friday for a town hall meeting at North Bend High School.
Wyden holds a town hall in each of Oregon's 36 counties every year.
"That reflects that political change doesn't start in Washington DC or Salem even, and then trickles down," he explained, "it's really power-up; it really comes from grass roots; that why I like these meetings so much."
We asked Wyden where he stands on the issue of drilling off the Oregon coast.
"On my watch, we're not going to have a bunch of new policies that allow us to, in effect, be forced to see oil derricks when we're looking out Haystack Rock."
The senator then visited Port Orford on Saturday.
