Kentucky Power sending linemen to aid power restoration effort in Puerto Rico
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) —
Kentucky Power is sending crews to Puerto Rico to assist with ongoing restoration after Hurricane Maria.
Linemen from Ashland, Pikeville and Hazard will be among 50 American Electric employees who will be working in Puerto Rico starting in January.
Kentucky Power’s restoration efforts are operating through the Edison Electric Institute.
It will add nearly 1,500 addition workers and support to help in the effort to restore power across the island.
More than three months after Hurricane Maria devastated the island, nearly half of the population is still without electric.
