Caught on camera: River ice floats downstream in central Washington
ELLENSBURG, Wash. - River ice can be seen flowing downstream through the Yakima River Canyon in central Washington in new video released by the Bureau of Land Management.
The video shows ice floating in the river on January 13.
"River ice started forming in early December and uninterrupted below-zero temperatures in January started sending thick sheets of blue ice downstream," the BLM said of the video by employee Rusty Gates.
The BLM manages 9,000 acres in the Yakima River Canyon, including 4 established recreation areas.
