'Clamming and crabbing is very simple'

COOS BAY, Ore. - Have you ever wanted to go clamming or crabbing but didn't quite know how to get started?

Well now there's a class for that!

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting free clam and crab seminars throughout the summer for beginners or even expert shellfishers who want to brush up on their skills.

The classes cover digging, cleaning and even cooking tips, as well as state regulations.

"Clamming and crabbing is very simple," said Jim Heinrich, a shellfish biologist, "but sometimes a lot of little things help the outcome of your harvest, so show up - it's a good time."

The next seminar is set for June 13 in Gold Beach. | More classes and events
