Dogs, drone aid search for missing La Pine man last seen at Davis Lake
OAKRIDGE, Ore. - A search of the area where a missing La Pine man's SUV was found turned up no sign of the 61-year-old.
The family of Gary Humbard reported him missing September 10.
Based on an eyewitness account from hunters, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office now believes Humbard parked at Davis Lake and set off on foot on September 2.
"There are no leads at this time as to which direction Humbard may have left from his vehicle," the sheriff's office said in a statement.
On Saturday, 10 search and rescue volunteers and a sheriff's deputy searched the area where Humbard's SUV was found.
The search included multiple K9 teams and an Unmanned Aerial System team flying a drone.
"Searchers worked most of the day, searching through open areas with tall grass as well as densely forested areas with significant dead and down timber," according to the sheriff's office. "This case remains an open missing person investigation and future searches will occur as ground conditions and resources permit. Our thoughts are with Mr. Humbard's family."
