Man falls 30 feet from rocks near waterfall

COOS BAY, Ore. - A man climbing a rock wall near a waterfall fell over 30 feet to the rocky ground below Sunday, Oregon State Police said.

The 39-year-old man was seriously injured in the fall at Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area about 24 miles northeast of Coos Bay.

The man was initially treated by Bay Cities Ambulance paramedics before they took him a few miles from the park to a field where an air ambulance landed.

The injured man was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.
