Three men jump from boat to avoid a collision, get rescued from Columbia River
Three men were pulled out of the Columbia River Monday morning, after jumping from their boat moments before a collision with another boat.
The boaters rescued are Christopher McMahon age 45, Bryan Maess age 47, and Roni Durham age 57. This happened Saturday morning around 8:34 am.
The men were trolling for salmon near Tansy Point, just west of Astoria, Oregon. Another boat, operated by Marlin Larsen age 74, slammed into them causing significant damage to their boat and prompting the three men to jump into the water.
Several other boaters in the area rushed to help rescue McHahon, Maess, and Druham from the river.
Larsen was cited and released for Reckless Operation, 3 counts of Recklessly Endangering, and 3 counts of Assault in the 4th degree.
