ASU's Kellogg no-hits No. 3 Beavers
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Ryan Kellogg threw a no-hitter Saturday as 20th-ranked Arizona State defeated No. 3 Oregon State, 4-0, Saturday in front of 2,515 at Goss Stadium.
Kellogg struck out three in the no-hitter, the first against the Beavers since March 27, 1994 when Lewis & Clark State defeated OSU, 1-0.
The Beavers managed two runners in the game, both via errors. Ryan Barnes reached on an error by shortstop Drew Stankiewicz and Jake Rodriguez reached first in the eighth on a dropped fly by right fielder Trever Allen.
Kellogg improved to 5-0 this season.
Jake Peevyhouse produced all the offense ASU needed when he hit a solo home run off OSU starter Andrew Moore in the fifth. Moore took the loss and dropped to 5-1 after allowing four hits and two runs in 5 2/3 innings.
ASU scored solo runs in the fifth, six, eighth and ninth innings.
Oregon State and Arizona State close out the series Sunday at 12:05 p.m. PT. The game will air live nationally on the Pac-12 Networks.
