Marshfield wrestler competes for US at World Cadet Championships
COOS BAY, Ore. -- A Coos County high school athlete has won a spot on a national wrestling team for the second year in a row.
Marshfield wrestler Travis Wittlake Jr. will once again represent the United States in the World Cadet Championships.
The international competition includes around 50 countries and is for wrestlers age 15-17.
Wittlake competed at the competition for the first time last year. He shared some advice on achieving goals.
"Learn as much as you can at whatever you're doing,” he said, “you know, be determined; focus on it and take advantage of what you have, take advantage of opportunities. I believe that hard work has paid off for me a lot over the last couple years and I've been very successful. I'm just trying to take advantage of everything I have."
This year's World Cadet Championships will be in Athens, Greece, in the fall.
