Police: Coquille woman died in single vehicle crash

COQUILLE, Ore. – A Coquille woman died in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning on Highway 42, Oregon State Police said.

A trooper responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Highway 42 near milepost 6 at 5 a.m. OSP learned of the crash at approximately 4:15 a.m.

The trooper determined the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway on the east side, traveled down an embankment and crashed into a tree.

The driver, Shayla Marie Coleman, 22, of Coquille, died at the scene before emergency personnel arrived.

Police say there were no other occupants in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police say fatigue may be a possible cause.

Millington and Green Acres Fire Departments, Coos County SO, Myrtle Point PD and ODOT assisted OSP.
