Police: Driver rams patrol car, found hiding under tarp in NE Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. —
A Portland man is accused of crashing his car into a police cruiser Saturday night before he was later tracked down by a K-9 team.
Someone called police about 9:30 p.m. reporting that they saw people dealing drugs near the Red Roof Inn on NE 82nd Avenue.
An officer reported seeing two occupied cars in a parking lot. The officer tried to talk with one of the drivers, who in turn backed his car into the officer’s patrol vehicle before driving away.
The officer wasn’t hurt in the crash, but her patrol car was damaged.
Police officials said they found the suspect's vehicle abandoned in a nearby neighborhood, so they called in a K-9 team to search the area.
Portland Police K-9 “Mac” found the suspect, 45-year-old William Henry, hiding under a tarp on NE Failing Street.
Henry was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on reckless driving, attempt to elude by vehicle, and first-degree criminal mischief.
