Kaptivating Kidz: 'Mad Max' Motocross National Champ
Springfield's Max Miller recently won four AMA national motocross titles in Texas and Alabama
Life on two wheels also means living on the road but before catching big air, 'Mad Max' must catch up on his third grade school work.
"I just sit in the passenger seat with my Dad and I do my homework, then once I get done I have to read to him," the nine-year-old said.
Max's father Mike rides too and he helped teach Max the ropes of ripping up a course since he was three years old.
Now racking up trophies across the country, Miller is digging deep to give maximum effort to qualify for a return trip to Loretta Lynn's ranch in Tennessee this summer.
Max and his family earned the right to travel to the country singers home in August of 2010. "
When Miller goes up against some of the nation's best competition, it sure helps that he is from the damp and soggy state of Oregon.
"I get to practice in the mud and most other kids don't get to ride in the mud at all, so whenever it gets muddy I am up there," Max continued, "In Alabama it rained and it was really muddy and I won by 42-seconds," he said with a smirk.
