Lady Pirates hit the road for playoffs

COOS BAY, Ore. -- Following a dramatic play-in game last week, the Marshfield High School softball team is both confident and excited for the round of 16.

Although the stage has grown for his players, coach Floyd Montiel says nothing they do needs to change. "We just keep doing what we do everyday," he said. "We've adopted the same kind of motto of, 'just get ready for today and that's what we do.' So, no matter what we do, we're just preparing and taking it one day at a time."

The pirates will once again rely on the strong arm of senior pitcher Breanne Johnson to take care of business. "We're there to compete and we're there to win," she said.

The Pirates left for Sandy on Wednesday morning.

A win against #2 seeded Sandy would move Marshfield into the state quarterfinals.
