DAT, Skipper claim Pac-12 track honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- The Pac-12 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of March 11-17, 2013:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week: DE'ANTHONY THOMAS, OREGON (So., Los Angeles, Calif.). Thomas won three events at the Oregon Preview, including anchoring the 4x100 meter relay to a meet-record 40.35. He teamed with Dior Mathis, Arthur Delaney and B.J. Kelley on some sharp early season exchanges to break the 21-year-old meet record of 40.46 set in 1992. Thomas followed up with an all-conditions personal best in the men's 100 meters, running in a time of 10.31 which also ranks third in the nation, to date. Thomas put a wrap with a win in the 200 meters, posting a time of 21.17, also a top-10 time in the country this season.The Ducks' 4x100 meter relay team ranks sixth.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: STEPHANIE JOLLEY, UTAH (Sr., Centerville, Utah). Returning from an injury plagued indoor season, Jolley won the only event title for the Utes at the Aztec Invitational. She ran a time of 1:00.0 for first place at the Aztec Invitational in the 400m hurdles.

Men's Field Athlete of the Week: GREG SKIPPER, OREGON (RS-Fr., Oregon City, Ore.). In his first meet back from an injury that caused him to redshirt the 2012 season, Skipper won the hammer throw at the Oregon Preview with a throw of 210-10/64.26m. That was a six-foot personal best and ranked as the No. 3 throw nationally in the young 2013 season.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: EMILY HUNSUCKER, COLORADO (Jr., Arvada, Colo.). Hunsucker won the hammer throw on the first day of the Jerry Quiller Classic. She launched a personal-best toss of 195-10.25/59.69m to become the second-best performer in CU history behind Janet Visosky (196-10), while posting the third-best mark in CU history. Hunsucker recorded the mark on her sixth and final attempt of the meet. The mark also ranks fourth in the NCAA this season.
