COOS BAY, Ore. -- An upcoming event will give young girls the chance to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math professions.

The Coos Bay Area Zonta Club will host its third annual Girls Rock event later this month.

The fair includes a full day of hands-on learning, science games and experiments.

The event is meant to introduce girls to different career opportunities.

"Learn about and explore opportunities in STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering and math,” says Zonta’s Lani Schreiber. “We'll have over 15 STEM professionals there with hands-on activities to introduce the girls to what it's like to be in a career in their field."

The free event will be held on Saturday, April 22 at the Boys & Girls Club in Coos Bay.

It’s open to all girls in grades three through eight in Coos County.
