Another bear sighting in South Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. - A viewer notified us that two bears were seen in a neighborhood near Lane Community College, going through trash.
Mike Sommerville says he was woken up around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, hearing what he thought might be dogs outside his house. After checking his security cameras, it turns out that two bears were helping themselves to a late night snack.
This isn't the first bear sighting we've had in Eugene this summer, and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says that once summer berries are ripe, it's less likely that bears will wander into residential areas looking for food.
