COOS BAY, Ore. -- For many families, going out onto public lands to cut down a Christmas tree is a holiday tradition.

For this year, Christmas tree permits are available at locations across Southwest Oregon.

Permits on the Coos Bay BLM district are $5 per tree with a limit of five tree permits per household.

The permits may be used only on lands open to Christmas tree harvesting in designated areas.

Maps that identify these areas will be provided at the time of permit purchase.

The tree permits are available at Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management offices, and many local vendors.

You can contact your local BLM office for more information.
