COOS BAY, Ore. -- The creative juices were flowing at the Coos Bay Boat Building Center over the weekend.

With Christmas around the corner, Santa's workshop was filled with people hard at work.

"They can come down here and make something of their very own to either give to somebody else or for themselves, and the satisfaction of creating something is what it’s all about," said the center’s Tom Leahy.

Santa's elves young and old stopped by the center to turn scraps of wood into miniature boats.

"It's so much fun to come out and use the creative side of my brain and to get a break from all the work we do as an adult,” said Amber Madigan, who attended ‘Santa’s Workshop.’ “You're still young at heart so it's fun to do something creative."

"I think the best part was having the chance to build something from my own imagination," said attendee Jack Sorensen/

‘Santa's Workshop’ is in its fourth year of helping the community tap into their creative side.
