Coos Bay museum hosts unique exhibit honoring US Coast Guard
COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Coos History Museum continues their celebration of veterans and active military.
They unveiled their third event Thursday: "US Coast Guard Art: Through the Eye of the Artist."
Coast Guard Senior Chief Thomas Hines says it's a unique way for the public to get to know them.
"You see the helicopters flying by and you'll hear about the boats crossing the bar, but it's kind of nice sometimes to put faces with the events and the actors," Hines says, "and it's nice for us to see the community because those are the people that we're serving, that we're out here protecting."
The exhibit opened Thursday with a flyover and demonstrations.
You can check out the exhibit through September 16.
