Coos communities fill SIX buses at this year's Bus Jam food drive
COOS BAY, Ore. -- Saturday was all about giving as the 16th Annual K-DOCK Bus Jam took place.
The annual toy and food drive helps families in need during the holidays.
It started 16 years ago and gathered about 16,000 pounds of food.
Last year, organizers said they collected more than 60,000 pounds and, while they had one bus to fill when the drive first started, this weekend they filled six.
This year, the Bus Jam took place in four locations - Coos Bay and North Bend Bi-Marts, Rolling Pin Pizza in Coquille and Bandon US Cellular.
"It's really rewarding for needy families in our area have to a wonderful Christmas because we've been so blessed in our lives,” said volunteer Tonya Goodwin, “it's just so nice to be able to give back to the community."
Each year, the Bus Jam brings Christmas to hundreds of kids.
