COOS BAY, Ore. -- The Coquille Indian Tribe is working with Coos County Area Transit to expand transportation services.

CCAT was awarded the Tribal Transit Program Grant for $200,000 over three years.

The local transportation service now provides two loop services through Coos Bay and North Bend.

With the new grant, an additional route will be added called the "Circulator."

"The Circulator will be able to link all those in-town resources and then, what was functioning as the east/west loops, they're going to now be connectors,” says CCAT interim transit manager Melissa Metz. “Their focus will just be bringing those residents in from those outlying area into town."

Metz says the changes will cut the 90-minute wait down to an hour.

CCAT is planning to roll out the new routes in February.
