COOS COUNTY, Ore. — Those struggling with the impact of covid-19 will be getting some help.

A social worker will be available in three Coos County libraries and it will be a free service.

That worker will split time between the Coos Bay, North Bend, and Lakeside libraries.

The North Bend library director, spearheading the pilot project, says they talked with people who indicated there is a need for them to support local resilience and quality of life.

"That person will be available to provide a wide variety of services and help people assess needs for all sorts of things like job applications, accessing resources related to housing and food insecurity and even family supports like elder care and early childhood education," said Haley Lagasse, North Bend Public Library director.

The help is available on a walk-in basis.
