COQUILLE, Ore. -- A scam alert has been issued from the Coos County Sheriff's Office.

They've been getting reports of fraudulent callers claiming to be from the sheriff's office.

One caller claimed to be “Lieutenant James West,” but the sheriff's office says nobody by that name works there.

There's no determination of whether money was wanted.

The sheriff's office says, while they may call you about calls for service, they we will never ask for money over the phone for warrants or jury duty.
