Detectives: Suspect admitted he was involved in Waldport and Port Orford bank robberies
BANDON, Ore. – Bandon police officers arrested a man who admitted he was involved in a robbery at the Columbia Bank in Waldport and a robbery at the Rogue Credit Union in Port Orford.
U.S. Marshals and the Brookings Police Department had been searching for Stanley Carl Green, 55, on an active warrant for his arrest on a failure to appear charge related to a robbery charge out of Thurston County, Wash.
On Jan. 11, detectives with the Brookings Police Department contacted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office saying Green had been frequenting the Brookings area.
On Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the early morning hours, the Bandon Police Department learned Green was staying in a campsite at the Bullards State Park in Bandon.
At 8:30 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office activated their Emergency Response Team to respond to Bullard State Park. The team contacted Green and took him into custody.
Detectives with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Port Orford Police Department visited the Coos County Jail and interviewed Green. In the interview, Green admitted he was involved in both the Columbia Bank robbery in Waldport and the Rogue Credit Union robbery in Port Orford.
Detectives searched Green’s campsite and found several items of interest regarding both bank robberies. The items were seized as part of the investigation.
Green was transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
