Governor Kate Brown pushing new government ethics laws

SALEM, Ore. -- The push is on in Salem to pass government ethics laws.

Governor Kate Brown talked about them last month and this week they were introduced in the legislature.

She says she wants to make it easier to get access to state records, set the role and expectations of the governor's spouse or significant other, and strengthen ethics accountability among all public officials.

In the wake of the Cylvia Hayes & John Kitzhaber scandal, the bills are expected to easily pass.
