BANDON, Ore. — Coos County authorities are investigating a shooting death Sunday night in Bandon.
Just before 9:30 p.m. on October 13, North Coos 911 received a call indicating a person had been shot at a residence at 56081 Spring Creek Road in Bandon.
Officers from the Bandon Police Department and Coos County Sheriffs Office responded along with medical personnel.
Upon arrival, officers found Thomas John Thoeny, 53, with an apparent gunshot wound. Thoeny lived in a 5th wheel trailer located on the property.
"He was immediately transported to Bay Area Hospital, where he died as a result of being shot," said Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier.
Upon investigation, the Sheriff's Office arrested Janice Jahnean Green, 45, and lodged her at the Coos County Jail on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree.
Green is believed to be the sister of Thoeny, the DA said, and resided in a house located at the same address.
"I have filed District Attorney’s Information charging Ms. Green with Murder in the Second Degree," Frasier stated. "I anticipate she will be arraigned on that charge later today in the Coos County Circuit Court."
The Coos County Medical Examiner's Office and the District Attorneys Office also responded to the scene. The lead agency is the Coos County Sheriffs Office.
