COOS BAY, Ore. -- With the Miss Coos County Scholarship Pageant just around the corner, 18 young women are busy getting ready for the show.

Over the weekend, the Miss Coos County and Outstanding Teen contestants went through a training session to prepare for the competition.

The programs are official preliminaries to the Miss Oregon competition.

"Every Sunday we meet with the girls to try to prep in the five phases of competition, so we spend time working on interviews and answering questions on stage, walking swimsuit, walking in evening gown, and practicing talent, so that's what we've been up to today; that’s what we do every Sunday from October-ish until the pageant," explained Miss Coos County Director Amee Springsteen.

Miss Coos County 2017 was on hand to help this year's contestants, and she told us what’s on the horizon for her.

"I will be graduating this year with two degrees, debt free, thanks to Miss Coos County, and I'll be going on to OIT in the echocardiography program," said 2017 winner Brittany Crutchfield.

The Miss Coos County Pageant is less than two weeks away on February 17.

It will be at the Hales Center for Performing Arts on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus.
