UPDATE | The situation involving the welfare of an Oregon State University student and Hawley Hall resident was resolved Tuesday night around 10:30, officials said.

Original story:
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Students were evacuated from the Hawley Hall building on the Oregon State University campus Tuesday night due to a "student in crisis."

Oregon State's Steve Clark said that the student in question has been taken to the hospital and is in unknown condition.

Officials with OSU and troopers with Oregon State Police are working to resolve the situation, and OSU says that the student is a resident there, and he is locked in his room on the fifth floor of the building.

The evacuation was kept to the fifth floor of Hawley Hall, but fire sprinklers were triggered elsewhere throughout the building, and there is possible water damage.

Law enforcement officials say they don’t believe the general public is at risk.

Clark said that the students from the fifth floor will remain evacuated for the rest of the night, and the university is making other arrangements for them.

OSP is currently speaking with negotiators, although Clark said the student has not made any attempts to harm himself or others, and they do not believe he has a gun.

OSU officials are asking the public to stay out of the area bordering Southwest Jefferson Way, Southwest Weatherford Place, Southwest Intramural Lane and Southwest Sackett Place.
