GOLD BEACH, Ore. -- Gold Beach Police and Fire Department officials are investigating after they were dispatched to the area of Turtle Rock RV Park for a vehicle fire around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival they found a pickup truck fully engulfed with "a deceased subject" inside at the time, police said.
Gold Beach Fire extinguished the blaze.
District Attorney Everett Dial activated the Major Crimes Team to investigate the incident, according to a news release Friday afternoon. The Major Crimes Team consists of Gold Beach Police, Curry County Sheriff's Office, Brookings Police and Oregon State Police. An Oregon State Police fire investigation detective is also involved.
Police say at this point foul play is not suspected, but the investigation is ongoing.
Efforts are underway to locate and notify the next of kin.
They say the deceased is not from the Curry County area.
