MYRTLE POINT, Ore. – A Coquille woman died in a crash on Highway 42 Friday night, according to Oregon State Police.

Oregon State Police troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 42 at about 6:30 p.m. Officials say the crash occurred east of Myrtle Point.

According to the investigation, a Chevrolet Aveo was traveling westbound on Highway 42 when it lost control around a corner. The Aveo crossed the centerline and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban.

Both vehicles came to rest on the highway.

The driver of the Aveo, 18-year-old Savanna Jo McAdams, of Coquille, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Suburban, 41-year-old Mary L. Jones, of Myrtle Point, was taken by ground ambulance to Coquille Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they are considering speed as a factor in the crash.

Officials closed Highway 42 with intermittent flagging in one lane for about 4 hours.
