Police: Driver killed in crash lost control during hail storm on Hwy 101, hit oncoming SUV

COOS BAY, Ore. - A 25-year-old woman died when she lost control of her car on Highway 101 during a hail storm and crashed into an oncoming SUV Wednesday morning, Oregon State Police said.

Vanessa Goodwin of North Bend died from her injuries, police said.

Goodwin was southbound on Hwy 101 between Coos Bay and Bandon when she lost control during a hail storm, police said.

Her 2016 Toyota Scion crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound 2010 Jeep Liberty.

The driver of the Jeep - Everett Harty, 70, of Winston - and his passenger - 65-year-old Jeanette Harty - were taken to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, police said. They are expected to survive their injuries, police said.
