Police in Newport arrest California woman accused of kidnapping her daughter
NEWPORT, Ore. – Oregon State Police say a trooper arrested a woman accused of kidnapping her own child from Orange County, Calif. in Newport Monday evening.
According to police, law enforcement agencies in California had been searching for 42-year-old Sera Fina after she was accused of kidnaping her 11-year-old daughter. There was an active felony warrant for Fina’s arrest.
Police say the 11-year-old girl was reported missing on Sept. 6 from San Clemente, Calif.
Her foster parent was the last person to see the girl and believed her biological mother had picked her up.
Around 7:40 p.m. Monday, a trooper performed a welfare check on a 2006 Lincoln Navigator parked on the shoulder of Highway 101 near Beverly Beach State Park.
He recognized the two people inside as Fina and the missing 11-year-old girl.
The trooper took Fina into custody and lodged her at the Lincoln County Jail on the child abduction warrant and a fugitive complaint.
Her bail was listed as $150,000.
The Department of Human Services responded to care for the girl.
