COOS BAY, Ore. -- An Ohio man was arrested in Coos County Wednesday afternoon after police investigated a report of a suspicious man attempting to enter residences near the church on W. Fork Millicoma Road in the Allegany area.

The rural neighborhood lies 14 miles up Coos River from Eastside.

When Coos County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they spoke to an individual matching the description given by the citizen who reported the suspicious conditions.

He refused to identify himself, became uncooperative and attempted to leave.

However, he was detained while deputies contacted the citizen and were given a copy of surveillance video from the camera system at the residence.

The man was later identified as 42-year-old Shane Cole Briner, a transient from Ohio, after his fingerprints were compared to the national database, police said.

He was transported to Coos County Jail where he was lodged and charged with first degree criminal trespass.
