A 17-year-old student from North Medford High School is dead following a rollover crash on Sunday afternoon.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident that happened on Foothill Rd. between Corey Rd. and Villas Rd. at 2:15 p.m.

The office confirmed that eyewitnesses, also teenagers, said the driver was speeding, lost control, and hit a section of trees off the roadway.

They said the blue, four-door sedan then rolled over down an embankment adjacent to an orchard.

The student was the only person in the vehicle.

The victim's family has been notified, but JCSO has yet to release the driver's identity.

This is a developing story. News 10 has a reporter on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
